Mark is an active performer on the international jazz circuit both on trumpet / flugelhorn and piano / keyboards. He has worked with many established and up-and-coming high-profile jazz musicians and singers. Mark is equally comfortable with a range of 20th century styles from traditional New Orleans, through 50's blue-note and on to contemporary hip-hop grooves.

Mark recently became the band leader and musical director of the jazz club aboard the QM2.

He is a well-known composer working in many styles from UK brass band and jazz, plus commercial radio / TV and the pop music industry.

One of his most recent works is  an educational publication and musical workshops to develop young performers entitled Groove and Improve.

Mark is frequently called upon to orchestrate in many styles from string, vocal or brass arrangements for pop / soul-based songs to 20 + piece Las Vegas show band arrangements.

As an educator, Mark Hodgson is known as a teacher, tutor and director at many levels from London community arts workshops to the advanced and prestigious Dartington summer school.
